Simple & Efficacious

Medspray designs simple & effective inhalers and sprays based on proprietary spray nozzle technology.
This unique monodisperse spray nozzle technology is built on silicon micro and nano technology and provides real improvements in aerosol performance and patient compliance: Inhalation therapy becomes more efficacious and simple.
Medspray was founded in 2001. Currently our devices are used in clinical studies : Medspray’s inhalers and sprays will be the next generation inhalers, generating aerosols with narrow distributed particle size distributions, increasing efficacy without adding complexity. Technology is centered around design and manufacturing of small atomizers using lithography based, silicon micro machined nozzles. The focus is on simple but very efficient, local or systemic delivery of drugs, targeted to specific sites in the human body. Combining knowledge of micro technology, inhalation physics and fluid dynamics to offer solutions for long known challenges. To turn these concepts into prototypes fast in multi disciplinary project teams, covering concept design, prototyping & engineering, assembly, manufacturing and IP creation.

Quality Management System

Within Medspray there is a true awareness for safety and efficacy. To remain a highly appreciated development partner for our customers, we are trained in six sigma and have implemented a Quality Management System (QMS) based on ISO 13485 since 2009, which is certified full scope for development, supply and manufacturing of aerosol and spray devices.
We pro-actively adapt (the devices and ourselves) to customer and regulatory requirements. Since inhalers & sprays are pharmaceutical products as well as medical devices we support both regulatory pathways: Our QMS is certified against ISO13485, however we support pharmaceutical standards, the 20072 inhaler standard and many others. We support customers to get the spray nozzle technology implemented in their products correctly. Starting from the concept with customer formulations, tested in our labs, we participate all the way until to final registration of the product at authorities.

Manufacturing

Thanks to our unique location at the MESA+ High Tech campus, the clean room facilities for research and development are unlimited. Thin layers of virtually all materials can be used together with both wet and dry etching processes.
Once R&D is finished, chip manufacturing is outsourced to silicon foundries and nozzle assembly lines are set-up in house. All under our Quality System and responsibility.

Aerosol Lab

Properties of formulations to spray are crucial for inhaler performance. Testing Medspray’s aerosols and sprays requires skills and resources that are unique: This know-how has been built in many years of research utilizing an in-house aerosol test lab, resulting in validated test methods. Necessary measurement methods like Next Generation Impactor tests (NGI) and Aerodynamic Particles sizing (APS) are operated daily.
