Japan is one of the most important players in the international semiconductor industry.  The trade fair in Tokyo attracted about 65,000 visitors this year, including representatives from China, Taiwan and South Korea.  At the initiative of the Innovation Attaché network in Tokyo, five Dutch companies, Besi, Bronkhorst, ProDrive, TNO, VS Particle and knowledge institutions, were present for the first time with a Holland Pavilion.

Japanese companies are responsible for about 35% of the world market for Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment (SME) and for about 11% of the worldwide production of Semiconductors. In addition, the Japanese semiconductor industry is on the rise. Japanese companies are expected to increase their capital investments by 16% in 2017 compared to the past year. The largest increase will take place in the semiconductor industry and the production of electronic components. The Holland Pavilion is the result of a good cooperation between the IA network, Business Cluster Semiconductors Netherlands and Holland High Tech. Together, we are now looking at the possibility to realize an annualy participation from 2018 onwards. Full article can also be read here (Dutch): link to complete article
